Description

Are the Northern Lights on your bucket list? We have prepared this 8 day adventure in Lapland, filled with activities such as dog-sledding, ice fishing, snowmobiling, visiting reindeers, snowshoeing, making your own souvenirs from the reindeer antler and arctic birch, and a visit to the famous Ice hotel in Jukkasjärvi. This is the perfect chance for you to have fun in the arctic, whilst giving you an opportunity to see this elusive natural phenomena.

Previous trips were amazing! You can see our photos on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kats.adventureclub/photos_albums. We saw the Northern Lights while drinking beer and wine in the outdoor jacuzzi, surrounded by snow…the moment could not have been more perfect. And all the activities were super fun!

While we can not control nature and actually promise the aurora borealis, we can maximise our chances of seeing it, by picking the right time and a longer stay in Lapland. In the northern hemisphere, the aurora season runs from October to late March. The lights may be seen at any time during this period, but February is one of the best bets.

The Northern Lights are nature’s light show, with quantum leaps in oxygen and nitrogen atoms in an impressive display of luminous curtains and rays that dance above the tundra. They involve the interplay of elementary particle physics with superstition, mythology, and fairy tales.  Their fickle hues, their radiance, and their grandeur have filled people with wonder and inspired artists and they have also frightened people to think that the end is at hand. More exact explanations could not be given until modern physics was developed, and knowledge about the Earth’s magnetosphere was obtained from measurements with artificial satellites.
