Surf, fresh seafood, sunshine, breathtaking beaches and seascapes. Did you know Ericeira is a World Surf Reserve? It’s no surprise that it’s such a popular destination because aside from great surf conditions it boasts forty beaches and owns a lot of very cool surf n’ chill bars.
To say the village is picturesque is an understatement. You’ll get to explore old, narrow streets and see beautiful azulejos decorated buildings as we make our way to the best restaurants. It’s a typical fishing village, which means after you’ve built up an appetite on the beach, you’ll dine on delicious seafood fresh from the water.

Extra day in Lisbon-Thursday
If you want to extend your adventure, you can fly a day before and experience the coastal capital city, Lisbon. The price of this isn’t included in the overall so you would need to make arrangements yourself. You’ll have the chance to enjoy sand, history, culture, and then refresh yourself with ice cold beverages and fresh, garlicky clams. Or you can visit the beautiful town of Sintra, which is studded with pastel-coloured villas and palaces and is definitely worth seeing.
Described as one of the coolest European villages by Fox News, Ericeira is also the first World Surf Reserve in Europe! For the quality and consistency of its waves and beaches, the biodiversity, the existence of a surf culture and a local surf industry, and the support of the local community; Ericeira gathers the perfect conditions for learning surf and has become widely internationally known for its world surf competitions. But there is a whole lot more to it than just surf…
The sea, which serves as a background and frames Ericeira’s beautiful beaches and cliffs, is the central spot for all activity within the village. Ericeira is a picturesque typical Portuguese fishing village with a rich gastronomy based on fresh fish and seafood, especially the lobster, grown in nurseries along the rocky coast. We will try all of this in one of the many village restaurants located either on the main road by the sea, or the narrow streets which remind you of the old times. Ericeira also has beautiful samples of Portuguese typical pavement and buildings covered in azulejos (a form of Portuguese painted, tin-glazed, ceramic tilework) which have become a typical aspect of Portuguese culture and are 2 of our most antique national arts. With a history deep rooted in the Phoenician times, Ericeira was also where the Portuguese Royal Family left to exile when there the Republic was instaured.
The Villas are the alternative for those seeking for some peace of mind. Located in the city centre, but on one of the few premium properties in Ericeira. It has a small grocery store with local produce, common pool and outdoor parking and also a number of green spaces.
One of the best part of getting your own apartment is the chance of experiencing the city like a local. We have a handful of great advice on how to explore the best of Ericeira. From sites, to restaurants, museums, and shops, we will help you love the city, hopefully as much as we do.
