Water sports on Korcula
The Adriatic Sea is so amazingly clear and the water around Korcula is so still, it’s lake-like. An abundance of water sports can be enjoyed in and on the sea, from snorkelling to scuba diving, to kayaking to wind-surfing. Hire a kayak or boat and paddle or motor across to the archipelago between Korcula and Lumbarda – the small islets here, such as Badija, Vrnik & Stupe, are beautiful and so peaceful.
Walking&Wine Tasting Tour in Lumbarda
Join us for a scenic walk through the Lumbarda countryside, passing olive groves & local vineyards, before sampling some of the island’s finest wines – the white wine Grk and the red wine Plavac Mali. We will stop at two of our favourite wineries, sampling traditional appetisers at the first and feasting on a delicious dinner at the second; of course all served with wine!
Snorkeling Boat Trip
Enjoy a leisurely boat trip around the beautiful islets lying off the coast of Korcula Town with time to swim & snorkel at two beautiful spots in the channel surrounding the Korcula archipelago. For lunch or dinner your host Mario will prepare tasty fish with seasonal vegetables /salad, all washed down with his own family home-made wine.
For us, the great thing about the Island of Korcula is its concentration of the landscapes and beautiful surroundings that can be found throughout the whole of Croatia. From the green wooded peaks that give stunning views of the Adriatic, to the fertile plains that are utilised by the farmers; with their stone walled olive groves and rolling vineyards. There are red roofed settlements smattered across the island, found on the hills, in the valleys or those that make up quaint fishing villages dotted along the coast line.
A remarkable old town maybe the focal point for most visitors, but it is when you travel through the picturesque landscape and find yourself at the crystal-clear waters of a secluded white pebble bay, that you truly appreciate where you are.
The most important son of Korcula is Marco Polo who suppose to be born here. According to this theory, his father was a merchant from Dalmatia named Maffeo Pilic, who Italianised his surname to Polo when he established himself in Venice.
